NOW SHOWING April 6 through May 31, 2008

Richard L. Andrews is a native of Connecticut, born in Danbury, raised in Brookfield, and living in New Milford since 1976. Following a life-long interest in art and photography, he started exhibiting his work in 2000 with a one-man show at the Grand Patisserie on Main Street in New Milford, Ct. He has recently completed his fifth show there. Since that initial 2000 show, he has been exhibiting extensively in Litchfield and Fairfield counties in one-man shows, galleries, local art associations, contests and various charitable fund raisers. His work has won numerous first, second, third and honorable mention awards locally. The emphasis of the majority of this photography is country landscapes, farms, woods, lakes and all of the varied natural (and sometimes man-made) beauty of northwestern Connecticut. With the acceleration of development in this part of the state, Mr. Andrews writes, "It is great to be able to at least preserve some of these scenes on film." All of his work is on film media, not having been drawn into the digital avalanche-yet. He is basically self-taught, although he studied art formally and completed numeerous studio art courses. He has also studied with the New York Institute of Photography.

Mr. Andrews work can be seen and purchased in fine art card form at various local retailers. Currently his card catalog is at 266 different scenes and is constantly expanding.

Great show and a great idea to have a blog for the NMPL Gallery!

Beautiful photography! Liked the idea of learning the photogrpher's background and desire to retain a record of our quickly changing landscape. Hope to see a lot more of his work.
